The award's new partner: CNY Diaper Bank

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – This Wednesday, 40 Under Forty Award recognizes 40 outstanding leaders who are under the age of forty in the central new york community. Around 400 people attend this year’s ceremony.

CNY 40 Under Forty Award has been held for more than 20 years, while they get a new partner this year. Central New York Diaper Bank is a non-profit organization, providing diapers to families in need. Christine Durnin is the Board Member of CNY Diaper Bank. She says this year’s 40 award recipients will join the later volunteer activity. Award recipients will be offered opportunities to wrap diapers and distribute them to families in need in Syracuse. They will also hold donation activities in their respective fields for CNY Diaper Bank.

In addition, the ceremony provides exhibiting spots for local businesses, which can raise their publicity and boost exposure. For example, Durnin says 40 Under Forty Award helps them to raise public awareness of diaper needs in Syracuse.

The ceremony is divided into two parts. Firstly, guests can chat and meet new friends in the ballroom. Then they will be invited to the meeting room where they can have lunch while recognizing the award together.

Jillian DiLaura McGuire is one of the award recipients this year. She is a family law attorney. She says the ceremony allows them to meet excellent people from different industries, building up their networking and relationship.

According to the panel of judges, their standards of review are mainly based on two requirements. Firstly, the recipient is successful in his career. Secondly,  the recipient needs to give back to the community.
