SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Voters in Syracuse are having to find new places to vote. These voters are being turned away from their normal voting sites due to complications with their registration. Some of those complications include things like moving to new cities or counties and not reporting the change, no identification present at time of voting or there is no record of the voters registration.
These issues arise every year when it comes to voting. Some voters have expressed their frustration with these issues as they say they were not notified properly on how to fix them. At the Hazard Branch Library in Syracuse, they are taking all the necessary measures to ensure that these issues don’t prevent anyone from voting.
A poll site manager who just wants to be known as Linda, says that making sure voters are taking the necessary steps to make sure their registration and identification are complete before voting, can help make the process easier.
“When there is no identification piece then there is steps in order for the voter to take in order to make themselves qualified to vote and that’s important for security reasons,” said Linda.
Another way voters are being helped when a problem occurs at polling sites is with an affidavit from. These forms are used to help fix issues with voters registration. Affidavit voting is a secure way to vote whenever someone has an issue with their voting on a regular ballot.
Even though these issues may become frustrating for voters, poll workers all over Syracuse are using every tool they can to ensure that all voters have the chance to cast their vote.
