SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)–With the holidays being right around the corner, many people start to go shopping for essentials such as Christmas trees. But in Syracuse and other Upstate areas, there might be limited stock this year. Climate change has been one of the biggest factors, causing certain farms to shut down due to droughts and heat issues from the Canadian wildfires in June.
Owners of local Syracuse farms, such as Bruce Graham of Mary’s Christmas Tree Farm, had this advice for shoppers.
“I just think if you want the best pick of the lot, come early, and that would be this weekend and next weekend, but everybody should be able to get a tree if you come out to a farm.”
Christmas trees normally take ten years to grow, but Graham plans on finding ways to overcome this challenge for future years.
