SYRACUSE, NY (NCC News) – A band of lake effect snow fell over the Central New York area. A lake effect snow warning is in effect until 7 p.m. February 29th, according to the National Weather Service. Additional snow up to two inches is expected.
The wintry weather caused power outages across Central New York. Close to 1,000 National Grid customers remained without power Thursday afternoon. Wind gusts could still reach up to 30 mph which is strong enough to reduce visibility while driving, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday morning students across Central New York woke up to news of their schools being closed. The following schools are closed for February 29th:

Central Valley
Chittenango
Fayetteville-Manlius
Jamesville-DeWitt
Liverpool
North Syracuse
Oneida
Syracuse City
