SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) –The United Way is collaborating with local businesses as Mother’s Day draws near to offer assistance to mothers in the community who are struggling.
The United Way has launched its yearly “United for Moms” campaign. The initiative, which was started about six years ago, invites people to donate personal and self-care products. After that, moms receive these supplies from affiliated organizations like the Salvation Army, YMCA, and Vera House. The intention is to give these moms necessities and serve as a constant reminder that they are a crucial member of the community.
Speaking about the project, United Way’s CNY chief community officer, Katie Halon, emphasized its personal value, especially for her as a mother. She underlined how crucial it is to recognize the sacrifices moms make and make sure they feel supported and appreciated.
King David’s restaurant is a common place for people to drop off money since it brings the community together to support the cause. Giving back to the community is important to the King David’s team because it allows them to honor and remember their own moms and grandmothers.
Local companies like Wegmans also play a critical part in supporting the project by providing what they can, in addition to community donations. This group effort demonstrates the shared dedication to improving the lives of underprivileged mothers.
You can find the nearest donation locations to you by visiting the United Way CNY website if you’re looking to get involved.
