Biden and Trump Prepare for First 2024 Debate Biden and Trump Prepare to Debate

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — The first presidential debate is three days away, and it could be a make-or-break moment for both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. It’s the first debate in U.S. history between a sitting president and a former president.

Biden is reportedly gathering with trusted aides at Camp David for several days of intense debate prep.

Meanwhile Trump’s aides insist he will rely more on interviews and rallies to hone his approach. He is leaning on help from some of his top contenders for vice president, including Sens. JD Vance of Ohio and Marco Rubio of Florida, as well as policy experts and outside allies to help brief him.

“I think the former president needs to practice with his team, particularly on how he may respond to difficult questions, maybe about Jan. 6, maybe some about the legal issues that he currently faces,” said Republican strategist Shermichael Singleton.

It has been four years since the two hit the stage together. From back when the corona virus pandemic was raging to new issues and fresh lines of attack, it is a reminder of how much the country and the world have changed. However, the economy, inflation, and immigration are still the center of it all.

Also, this week marks two years since the Supreme Court Dobbs decision effectively overturned Roe v Wade. This is also important as abortion has emerged as a key issue in the 2024 election.
