Sunny Tsai: And loud and loaded this summer will be. The New York State Fair just announced the 39 food trucks that will participate in its Food Truck Competition this September. Owner of Skippy’s Softserve, Gina Husted, will be back for another year with her truck. Switching up the entree this year from the nachos in this poster,

Gina Husted: “we’re gonna call it the trashcan, so…people have heard of it before, it has chex mix, and then it has white chocolate over it, and we put that over ice cream as well.”

Sunny Tsai: Food trucks are allowed to enter one entree that the public can try and vote for.

Gina Husted: “I try to do something that everyone will like and enjoy, like something different, instead of just the typical hot fudge and sundae you can get anywhere. something unique.”

Sunny Tsai: Now skippy’s ice cream truck isn’t the only truck Gina is entering into the food competition this year. The baked potato express is one of the 12 newcomers that will join the fun this summer.

Gina Husted: The baked potato express is something new we’re doing this year. we were just at the taste of Syracuse, we’re new into the food truck rodeo this year.

Sunny Tsai: And Gina has already tested out her entree at a different festival.

Gina Husted: The competition is a three dollar item. So it would be a potato with macaroni and Cheese.

Sunny Tsai: These potatoes will come straight from the potato unit.

Gina Husted: So we pull it out…and we cook our potatoes in here…and then we have our toppings bar

Sunny Tsai: Skippy’s Ice Cream Truck and The Baked Potato Express will both be at the Food Truck Competition the first day.

By Sunny Tsai SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) —The New York State Fair has just announced the 39 competitors for its food truck competition this summer. Twelve new trucks will also be competing at the end of the fair this September.

Owner of Skippy’s Soft Serve truck Gina Husted will be returning for another year of the competition. But this year, she will be introducing a new entree to the public.

“I try to do something that everyone will like and enjoy, like something different,” said Husted about deciding what recipe to create for the competition.

Each participating food truck is allowed to sell one entree for $3 to the attendees. The attendees will then vote for their favorite one, and the food trucks with the most votes win different awards.

This year, Gina Husted will also be one of the newcomers at the competition.

“The Baked Potato Express is something new we’re doing this year. We were just at the Taste of Syracuse, we’re new into the food truck rodeo this year,” Husted said.

Introducing her new food truck, she will be serving mac and cheese baked potatoes at the fair.

The Food Truck competition will take place September 1-2 at the end of the New York State Fair this year.
