Dallas: Thank you for joining me on today’s edition of the NCC News Podcast, I’m Dallas Jackson. Today is Wednesday, June 19th, 2019.
Dallas: When you think of summer, you usually think of spending time at the pool. However, there is a shortage in lifeguards and lifeguard applicants. Our Sunny Tsai spoke with aquatics director Terrance Neidl about why that might be.
Niedl: “I think that it kind of goes with the trend. A lot of college students and a lot of high school graduating students are looking more to getting internships rather than sticking with the traditional summer jobs.”
Dallas: And in national news…
President Trump: “I stand before you to officially launch my campaign for a second term as Presidents of the United States.”
Dallas: President Trump announced his re-election campaign for the 2020 race during his rally in Orlando, Florida. In other national news, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing this morning for the nomination of Kelly Craft to become the US representative to the United Nations.
Craft: “Thank you for the opportunity to appear here today. It is a singular honor to sit before you as President Trump’s nominee to serve as US Ambassador to the United Nations.”
Dallas: N-C-C’s Michelle Houston has more information on people’s reactions to New York State passing its own Green New Deal.
Plus, our Sam Carter has the latest on the strawberry season and how the weather is affecting local farms.
And Make sure to check out the NCC News website for more on Rose Day here in Syracuse.
