(NCC News) — The Jamesville-Dewitt Central School District is partnering with researchers from the Center for Education Reform from the University of Rochester to create a five-year strategic plan. As part of the strategic planning process, the District asked parents of students of color to attend a forum Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7:00 p.m. The goal is to inform district planning to best provide equity and access for all students, a press release from the District states.
Approximately 30 parents attended. Their focus groups, which addressed their concerns, were private. The University of Rochester spoke with administrators, teachers, a group of students, support staff, and anyone who is a stakeholder in the District. Participants talked about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that they see for their schools.
The Jamesville-Dewitt School District should have their report on school performance, and within a week they’ll likely have their perception report, University of Rochester facilitator Lynne Erdle says.
