SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — If you want to experience the tasty cuisine that the Syracuse restaurants have to offer, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. Get ready for two weeks of food deals offered by 46 restaurants participating in the 16th annual Downtown Dining Weeks. Running from Feb. 17 until March 1, this program organized by the Downtown Committee of Syracuse is said to attract as many as 50,000 diners from Onondaga, Cortland, Cayuga, Madison, Oneida and Oswego counties.
Participating restaurants offer three-course dinners for $30 or less, and three-course lunches for $10 or less. “My only gripe is that is only two weeks long, because there’s so many places to go and so many amazing things to try for a good price,” said Nancy Sheftic, a costumer at Margaritas Mexican Cantina.
Downtown Dining Weeks has definitely made its way up since 2005, where only 17 restaurants participated and the program lasted one week. In 2010, Downtown Dining Weeks expanded to two weeks and this year is featuring almost three times as many restaurants as it did when it first started.
“I’m glad that we came out, I think that the evening meals probably get a lot more attention because of this week,” customer Bea Gonzalez said.”It’s always good to just get people to visit downtown.”
In an attempt to further engage the community, each restaurant participating in the Downtown Dining weeks, has a one chef’s hat placed in a hidden but plain sight spot. Diners are encouraged to take a picture of the hat and email it with a description of its location to mail@downtownsyracuse.com. Correct guesses will enter in gift cards lotteries from the participating Dining Weeks restaurants. The list of deals and participating restaurants can be found here
