IN THE WAKE OF THE RECENT PROTESTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, THREE SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS CREATED A WEBSITE CALLED “SAFE LOOT”
WHICH MAPS OUT BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. THIS GIVES THE WORD “LOOT” A NEW MEANING.
Caleb Obiagwu:”We do not endorse looting of any kind from any business. It’s just we also understand that the black community if they are looted it would be harder to ever rebuild and this cane the end of gaining income on the livelihoods for most people in the black community.”
Riles: WE WILL BE FOLLOWING UP ON A OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING THAT HAPPENED AROUND 5:15 THIS MORNING ON MARK AVENUE IN THE SOUTH SIDE OF SYRACUSE. ACCORDING TO THE SYRACUSE CITY POLICE, THE CITY’S SHOT SPOTTER DETECTED GUNSHOTS FIRED AND WHEN A OFFICER ARRIVED TO THE SCENE, A MAN WAS FOUND WITH A GUN. THE OFFICER FIRED AT THE MAN AND HE WAS TAKEN TO UPSTATE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN CRITICAL CONDITION. NO OTHER INJURIES WERE REPORTED FROM THE INITIAL GUNFIRE THAT LED TO THE POLICE ARRIVAL.
EARLY VOTING STARTS FOR THE 2020 NEW YORK PRIMARY ELECTION THIS SATURDAY. THOSE WHO OPTED FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT DUE TO COVID-19 BUT HAVE CHANGED THEIR MIND WILL STILL BE ABLE TO VOTE IN PERSON.
Norman Green: “We Determine who voted in person and then determine whether they apply for an absentee if they had then we set it aside. nothing illegal about going to the polls instead of voting absentee so you always have that opportunity and it’s our job is to make sure you don’t vote twice”
Riles: HAIR SALONS IN CENTRAL NEW YORK HAS BEEN OPEN FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD TO CREATE A NEW NORMAL WITH FEWER CLIENTS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING … THEY’RE GRATEFUL TO BE BACK IN BUSINESS.
