Early voting continued Monday at the Dewitt Town Hall, as voters waited for about an hour to cast their votes. Today’s line formed less than 16 hours after John Katko and Dana Balter concluded their final debate, part of New York’s 24th Congressional District race.
“I think it’s really important if you don’t know anything,” Anne Smardon of Syracuse said. “I read a lot about their positions in the newspaper and online. They both have websites. So if you don’t know, I think it’s very important to watch the debates.”
Smardon waited “about an hour and fifteen minutes” on a rainy afternoon in 40 degree weather. She was one of many voters who waited until after last week’s debates to cast their votes. Katko and Balter sparred over tax policy, President Trump’s COVID-19 response, climate change and more Sunday.
The early voting period in New York runs from Oct. 24-Nov. 1. Onondaga County early voting is open from noon until 8 p.m.
