SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Parts of Onondaga County are now under increased restrictions to combat a rise in COVID-19 cases.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that some areas will be subject to New York’s yellow zone restrictions. A map of affected areas will be released later today. Onondaga County set a record with 149 cases Friday.
The restrictions include:
- 25 person maximum for mass gatherings, down from 50
- Indoor and outdoor dining restricted to parties of four or less
- Bars and restaurants must close by midnight
Businesses and schools can remain open, but schools will be required to increase testing of students, teachers and staff.
The move is part of the microcluster approach being taken by the state to clamp down early on potential outbreaks. Parts of Erie and Monroe Counties are also being moved into the yellow zone.
