SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Syracuse Parks and Recreation will host a virtual meeting tonight seeking thoughts on the options for prevent future traffic and illegal dumping in Lincoln Park. Lincoln Park Drive staff will present two different options tonight and will make a decision in the coming days.
Syracuse Parks and Recreation Superintendent Peter Bardou said that most of the dumping activity occurs at the steep hill across the fence from Lincoln Park Drive.
“We’ve pulled over 200 tires just this year. We’ve found various car parts from the whole front half of a car,” said Bardou. “I’ve found bundles and bundles of penny savers that somebody just didn’t want and threw over there. Construction debris.”
Bardou also mentioned that the overlook at the park has been a hot spot for illegal activity.
“Just in the past six months, there’s been 48 complaints to the police of different types of illegal behavior potentially happening up there,” said Bardou.
Bardou and his team at the city’s Parks and Recreation Department are giving local residents the opportunity to pitch in on the topic due of the fact that Lincoln Park is a public park for the people.
