More Bars Reopening in Central New York More Bars Reopening in Central New York

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Bars and restaurants have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic. However, things seem to be looking up for local eateries and watering holes. Governor Cuomo recently announced that bars and restaurants in Central New York may open up to 75% capacity (as opposed to 50%).

“Our decisions are based on science and data and we adjust as the virus adjusts. The infection rate and hospitalizations have continued to significantly decline,”

— Governor Andrew Cuomo

Al’s Wine & Whiskey Lounge and Singers Karaoke Club are just two of the many businesses re-opening their doors to patrons this weekend. The businesses likely expect a large turnout from customers who haven’t been to their establishments in months.

Despite the fact that more bars are re-opening, the New York State curfew has not yet changed from 11 p.m. However, most bar owners agree that the increase in capacity is a step in the right direction.
