SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)-
Jacob Brillo an avid gym-goer didn’t start exercising till the start of the pandemic, and has fallen in love with exercise now and loves the way it makes him feel.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic last march, many have found themselves stressed and out of sorts with life not being normal, but many have still been able to exercise and use gyms. This has not only kept people in great health and shape but has been an outlet for many. Brillo has seen those benefits first hand.
“You feel good you feel energized but like calm. It kept me consistent, something to do, it helps with stress and gets your mind off stuff,” Says Brillo.
According to different health and university studies exercise during the pandemic is more crucial now than ever. A University of Michigan studied showed that physical activity and exercise can be effective treatments for depression and anxiety, especially when both of those are so prevalent during this time. Benefits in mood, sleep, and physical health can also be seen.
Brandon Anderson a local fitness trainer at Blink Fitness in Onondaga County has noticed that the pandemic has affected his clients in negative ways and has now seen the positive effects through exercise.
“The pandemic has stressed a lot of people out, and working out releases those endorphins, those feel-good hormones and makes you feel better. It’s a de-stress when you work out…just an outside factor that’s making them feel a little stressed, come to the gym and get a tough intense workout in and leave feeling great,” says Anderson.
As the country starts to open up more and more can be seen in gyms and exercising outside to help continue a great path of physical and mental health.
