I’m Jacob Agatston reporting for NCC News. Here are the stories making news today, November 30th.
When most people think of Christmas music, they think of festive and cheerful. But for many retail workers and holiday shoppers, the holiday music is depressing. Reverend Brian Konkol agrees that playing Christmas music too soon makes the season less special.
“If I hear Christmas music in September or October, to me that is like eating stuffing in July. Its nice, but I think there is something special about waiting.”
You might want to wait on playing the Christmas music, but don’t wait to buy a Christmas tree. The supply chain crisis is making it difficult to find the perfect artificial tree. General Manager Jennissa Hart at Chuck Hafner’s in North Syracuse says artifical trees are going fast.
“The artificial tree forest that we call it in the store is selling down fast and we don’t have any trees to restock, so if you’re looking, come now.”
There is no shortage of gingerbread houses at the Erie Canal Museum. The museum currently has about 30 houses on display. Natalie Stetson, the Executive Director of the Museum, says that she’s expecting more people to visit this year than last year.
“Pre-COVID times we would see about 6 thousand people between Thanksgiving and New Year. Last year that was down to 2 thousand people, this year I feel like we’re probably I don’t know 4 thousand like somewhere in the middle.”
The weather today will be chilly, with a high of 38 degrees and a low of 29. Expect some localized lake effect snow later tonight.
