The hype for winter is on and snow is on the ground, but one local ski area still hasn’t opened for the season and today’s snowfall actually isn’t helping them get started any earlier.
“Quite honestly, the snow that has come down has actually slowed us down,” said Bill Hane, the operations manager at Four Seasons Golf & Ski Center in Fayetteville.
“Some of the equipment that we can use doesn’t really work so well in the snow, so we have to do a lot more by hand,” he said.
For one SU junior, if you’re an avid skier why wait to do it locally? There’s other, larger winter destinations.
“I feel like they are used to the snow so if they ski, they are probably used to bigger stuff,” he said.
At the Four Seasons, the staff just wants to get on with their preparations, and they are set to finally open on the week before Christmas.
