Police are still searching for the suspect that left one dead and four injured in Armory Square early Saturday morning. The incident occurred by Al’s Wine and Whiskey Lounge, around the 300 block of South Clinton Street. Police say the possible suspect was a male around 20 to 30 years old.
Fernando Johnson is being charged with two felonies for criminal possession of a weapon and a firearm. When police arrived to the scene on Sunday night, Johnson had barricaded himself in a store on Westcott Street along with a store clerk and a woman. The standoff with police and the SWAT team lasted about an hour until Johnson was taken into custody.
Hey, Jazz-lovers! After a five year hiatus, Syracuse Jazz Fest founder Frank Malfitano announced the festival line-up that will be coming to Clinton Square.
If you’ve seen videos of people on flights cheering and throwing away their masks, you could be next in line. Syracuse Hancock International Airport announced federal partners
at TSA will no longer be enforcing the federal mask mandate for public transportation. This means masks are no longer required. However, individual airlines and destinations may have different policies.
Even though some COVID-19 restrictions are lifting, there’s yet another new booster headed our way. Moderna hopes to offer updated COVID-19 boosters in the fall that combine the original vaccine with protection against the latest variant. Studies are underway to see if a combination shot that adds omicron-specific protection works better.
Syracuse women’s lacrosse will face UAlbany today in the Carrier Dome in the final regular-season home game. Opening draw is set for 4 P.M.
