SYRACUSE, N.Y. — (NCC News) For the first time since 2015 the Syracuse University Men’s Soccer Team has won the ACC Tournament. The title was determined by the 2-0 victory over the Clemson Tigers on Sunday.
With energy growing from all atmospheres around the S-U campus, the team has a real chance at winning its first national title in the history of the program. The selection show occurred on Monday and the Orange were ranked the 3 seed for the national tournament.
Pedro de Paulo, Team Manager for Syracuse soccer, believes that this team has something special, “You know obviously it feels great when you’re like the only team to do it, it makes it more special. The feeling right now around the team is that if you ask any single player they will say that this is the most connected team they have ever been apart of.”
With the majority of the local attention attaining towards basketball and football, de Paulo believes it is time for fans to start paying attention to the soccer team.
“A lot of people disregard soccer immediately. Especially here in the US. Games are always entertaining, games are always close. Get more invested in soccer, I just also think with our success, I mean who wouldn’t want to see the number 3 team in the country. ”
The Orange take on the winner of the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers game. The first game for the Orange will be on November 20th with the hopes of capturing their first national title in school history.
