Weeks after initial reports that the Oscars would go without a host, the Academy has made it official.
Instead, the ceremony will be carried out by a series of high-profile presenters. The first group of presenters was announced earlier this week. Whoopi Goldberg, Tina Fey and Chris Evans start off the list.
On December 4, Kevin Hart was announced as this year’s host, but his status came into question as years-old homophobic tweets of his resurfaced and made headlines. Hart quit the job himself, saying he had previously apologized for his language.
Hart appeared on Good Morning America, squashing chatter that he may return to host.
The last time the show aired without a host was 30 years ago, in 1989.
