THE CITY OF SYRACUSE HOSTED ITS FORTY-FIRST ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE THIS PAST MARCH. IRISH HERITAGE CONTINUES TO HAVE A LASTING IMPACT ON THE CITY, INCLUDING A POPULAR VEGETABLE THAT IS STILL SERVED TODAY.
MORNING’S ON THE HILL REPORTER COLE KIRST JOINS US LIVE IN STUDIO ON HOW IT ALL BEGAN. COLE.
SYRACUSE IS A CITY IN THE UNITED STATES THAT COMES TOGETHER WHEN CELEBRATING IRISH FESTIVITIES IN THE SPRING. GREEN BEER SUNDAY AND ST. PATRICKS DAY ARE SOME ATTRACTIONS THAT WE WOULD NOT APPRECIATE WITHOUT THE SYRACUSE SALT INDUSTRY.
BAGPIPES, STOPLIGHTS AND THE COMMUNITY.
IN THE UNITED STATES IRISH CULTURE IS STRONG.
ST. PATRICK’S DAY IS ONE OF THE MANY TRADITIONS THE COUNTRY CELEBRATES.
WHAT MOST DON’T KNOW IS THAT ST. PATRICK WASN’T IRISH. PATRICK WASN’T EVEN HIS REAL NAME.
MAEWYN SUCCAT WAS FROM BRITAIN.
HE CONVERTED TO CHRISTIANITY AND MOVED TO IRELAND WHERE HE PRACTICED RELIGION ESTABLISHING CHURCHES AND CHAPELS.
HE DIED ON MARCH 17TH BUT HIS IMPACT WAS SO VAST, PEOPLE WHO IMMIGRATED TO THE UNITED STATES WEAR GREEN AND CELEBRATE ON THE DAY EVERY YEAR.
MUCH OF THE IRISH CULTURE IN SYRACUSE IS DUE TO THE POTATO FAMINE IN 1845 WHICH SENT MANY IRISH IMMIGRANTS TO CITIES IN THE UNITED STATES.
YEAH THE IRISH WERE HERE BEFORE IT WAS EVEN SYRACUSE. SOME OF THE EARLIEST SETTLERS THAT CAME TO AROUND ONONDAGA VALLEY WHICH USED TO BE CALLED SALT POINT, THEY CAME HERE TO BOIL SALT BRINE. THEY STARTED FROM LITTLE BRASS KETTLES AND THEY EVENTUALLY BUILT AN INDUSTRY THAT DOMINATED THE NATIONAL MARKET. SO SALT BLOCKS EVERYWHERE. YOU KNOW THESE ARE POOR PEOPLE WORKING IN THE SALT INDUSTRY JUST SOME SMALL POTATOES THAT SAID HEY WERE GOING TO THROW IT IN THE BOILING WATER, AND THEN THIS BECOMES THE FOOD AMBASSADOR THE STAPLE OF AN ENTIRE REGION. MUCH BELOVED IF YOU HAVEN’T HAD THEM YOU NEED TO HAVE THEM THEY’RE FANTASTIC THEY GO WITH EVERYTHING. SO IT’S THIS TANGIBLE REMINDER OF THAT WORKING CLASS, IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY, THAT BUILT THE ERIE CANAL, BUILT THE SYRACUSE SALT INDUSTRY, AND WITHOUT THE ERIE CANAL, WITHOUT SYRACUSE SALT, THERE IS NO SYRACUSE.
TIPPERARY HILL IS THE ONLY DISTRICT IN THE WORLD TO HAVE A TRAFFIC LIGHT GREEN OVER RED, WHERE MANY OF THE IRISH IMMIGRANTS SETTLED WHO WORKED FOR SYRACUSE SALT. COLEMANS PUB AND THE SYRACUSE KILTIE PIPE BAND WHO HOST FREE BAGPIPE LESSONS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS, CONTINUE TO SERVE AND DEMONSTRATE THE IRISH CULTURE IN TIPP HILL AND ALL OF SYRACUSE.
FOR MORNINGS ON THE HILL, I’M COLE KIRST.
THANKS JEREMY. FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP IS EXPECTED TO VOLUNTARLY SURRENDER TODAY AFTER BEING INDICTED BY A MANHATTAN GRAND JURY LAST WEEK.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN AMERICAN HISTORY THAT A PRESIDENT HAS FACED CRIMINAL CHARGES IN COURT. THE PRESIDENT WILL ARRIVE AT THE COURTHOUSE THIS AFTERNOON WHERE THE INDICTMENT WILL BE UNSEALED AND HE WILL FACE THE CHARGES. THERE ARE PROTESTS EXPECTED IN NEW YORK CITY TODAY FROM TRUMP’S SUPPORTERS. AFTER HIS COURT APPERANCE, TRUMP WILL FLY BACK TO MAR-A-LAGO WHERE HE WILL SPEAK THIS EVENING.
WANSHI, IT WAS RAINING THIS MORNING WHEN WE CAME IN THE STUDIO.
THAT’S RIGHT, SHI’ANN. LET’S SEE HOW THE WEATHER IS SHAPING UP NOW AS OUR WEATHER REPORTER POLINA SHEMANOVA IS OUTSIDE, POLINA?
WANSHI, WHAT CAN I SAY. RAIN, RAIN, AND. MORE RAIN? WELL, AT LEAST IT FELT LIKE THIS MORNING.
GLOOMY AND CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS? I’M SORRY, I MEANT RAIN.
IT’S CURRENTLY 45 DEGREES OUTSIDE, HUMIDITY IS UP AT 90% AND THE WIND IS 6 MILES PER HOUR.
NO RAIN AS OF NOW BUT I WOULD KEEP YOUR UMBRELLA HANDY.
I WILL HAVE THE FULL WEATHER FORECAST LATER IN OUR SHOW SO DON’T GO ANYWHERE IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT WEATHER TO EXPECT FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK.
BACK TO YOU , WANSHI AND SHI’ANN.
COMING UP ON MORNINGS ON THE HILL — CONGRESS HAS APPROVED A PLAN TO END THE NATIONS COVID EMERGENCY. WE WILL HAVE MORE ON HOW THIS COULD IMPACT YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE AFTER THE BREAK.
TIME TO CHECK YOUR WEATHER FOR TODAY.
POLINA SHEMANOVA IS IN STUDIO WITH A LOOK AT YOUR FULL WEATHER FORECAST.
THANK YOU, WANSHI. LET’S JUMP IN TO OUR CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS.
AS YOU CAN SEE ON THE SCREEN. WE ARE CURRENTLY AT 45 DEGREES AND IT FEELS JUST SLIGHTLY COOLER, LIKE 42. THE HUMIDITY IS AT 90% AND THE WIND IS AROUND SIX MILES PER HOUR. IN TERMS OF VISIBILITY, WE HAVE SEVEN MILES. ONCE AGAIN, THE RAIN IS GOING TO BE ON AND OFF TODAY SO KEEP YOUR UMBRELLA HANDY.
GOOD FOR TODAY, BUT HOW ABOUT TOMORROW? UGH, LOOKS LIKE MORE RAIN TO ME. BUT AT LEAST THE TEMPERATURES WILL BE WAY HIGHER! WE WILL START THE MORNING WITH 47 DEGREES, THEN IT’S GOING TO HEAT UP TO ALMOST 70 IN THE AFTERNOON AND WILL STAY WARM TILL THE EVENING. AS YOU CAN SEE THERE, LISTED ABOVE THE TEMPERATURES, MORE THAN 50 PERCENT CHANCE OF RAIN, MY FRIENDS. ONE WORD – UMBRELLA.
AND WHAT DO WE EXPECT FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK? SPOILER ALERT – LESS RAIN! HERE WE CAN SEE A BEAUTIFUL PROGRESSION WITH LESS RAIN AND MORE SUN. YES, BARE WITH ME, WE DO HAVE MORE RAIN ON THURSDAY, BUT LOOK HOW WARM IT’S GONNA BE! 61 FOR HIGH! GOING INTO FRIDAY, THE RAIN IS GOING AWAY AND THE SUN IS SLOWLY COMING OUT! A LITTLE COOLER THAN WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY THOUGH. YOU CHOOSE: WARM AND RAINY OR COOL AND SUNNY? I’M GONNA GO WITH COOL AND SUNNY TO GET THAT VITAMIN D. AND JUMPING INTO THE WEEKEND, WE ARE EXPECTING CLEAR SKIES WITH 49 DEGREES ON A SATURDAY AND 61 DEGREE HIGH ON SUNDAY. PERFECT WEEKEND TO DO SOME OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES!
THIS IS ALL I HAVE FOR THE WEATHER REPORT. WANSHI, SHI’ANN, BACK TO YOU.
THE SENATE RECENTLY VOTED ON WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS IN TERMS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC EMERGENCY.
MORNING’S ON THE HILL REPORTER JEREMY LYNCH JOINS US LIVE TO TELL US WHAT THIS IS. JEREMY?
WITH A VOTE OF 68 TO 23.THE UNITED STATES SENATE OFFICIALLY VOTED TO END THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC EMERGENCY EARLY. HOWEVER.SOME PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE QUESTIONING IF THIS IS TOO SOON.
ON WEDNESDAY, THE SENATE VOTED TO END THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY. THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC EMERGENCY WAS SUPPOSED TO END ON MAY 11TH, BUT THIS CAME EARLY. THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES VOTED ON THE SAME MATTER BACK IN FEBRUARY, AND THE RESULTS WERE TO END THE EMERGENCY AFTER A VOTE OF 229 TO 197. THE NEXT STOP WOULD BE THE PRESIDENT’S DESK. WHILE HE SAID, HE’S NOT IN FAVOR OF ENDING THE EMERGENCY EARLY, HE HAS NOT THREATENED THE SENATE WITH A VETO. BRITTNAY KMUSH IS AN EPIDEMIOLOGIST AND ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR AT FALK COLLEGE AT SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY. WHILE SHE DOES NOT MAKE THE DECISION ON WHETHER THE COVID AND SHE SAYS WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY SINCE THE ORIGINAL SPREAD OF COVID BACK IN MARCH.
JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE ENDING THE PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY DOESN’T MEAN IT’S GONE. IT’S GOING TO BE WITH US FOR OUR LIFETIMES, I WOULD SAY IT’S PROBABLY GOING TO, YOU KNOW, CAUSE A SURGE IN CASES EVERY DECEMBER AT LEAST IN THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE. AND IT’S GOING TO BE SOMETHING THAT WE’RE GOING TO HAVE TO LIVE WITH FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. BUT IT’S GOOD TO SEE THAT THE EMERGENCY STATE OF IT’S OVER AS WE START TRANSITIONING TO HOW WE CAN LIVE OUR EVERYDAY LIVES WITH THIS INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
WITH THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY ENDING.PFIZER SAYS VACCINES MAY GO UP IN PRICE AFTER THE SUPPLY RUNS OUT AND THE AT-HOME TESTS MAY COST OUT OF POCKET. FOR MORNINGS ON THE HILL, I’M JEREMY LYNCH.
THE NEW YORK STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT IS LAUNCHING A NEW CAMPAIGN TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE DANGERS OF DISTRACTED DRIVING.
THIS INCLUDES ANY ACTIVITY THAT CAN STEAL SOMEONE’S ATTENTION AWAY FROM OPERATING A VEHICLE, LIKE TEXTING, EATING, OR LOOKING DOWN AT YOUR PHONE’S GPS FOR TOO LONG.
U-ALBANY’S INSTITUTE FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY MANAGEMENT AND RESEARCH REPORTS THAT DISTRACTED DRIVING CONTRIBUTED TO 10-PERCENT OF FATAL CAR CRASHES AND A QUARTER OF PERSONAL INJURY CRASHES ACROSS THE STATE IN 2021.
ONONDAGA COUNTY IS LOOKING TO EXERCISE ITS RIGHT TO FORCE A SALE OF THE SHOPPING TOWN MALL PROPERTY AND HAND IT OVER TO A NEW DEVELOPER.
THE OWNERS OF THE OLD MACY’S AND SEARS LOCATIONS AT THE MALL HAVE REFUSED TO SELL FOR TWO YEARS, STOPPING PLANS TO REDEVELOP THE MALL INTO A RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY CALLED DISTRICT EAST.
THE COUNTY SAYS THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN WOULD CREATE 14-HUNDRED FULL TIME JOBS.
DISTRICT EAST WOULD HAVE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS, A MOVIE THEATER, A GROCERY STORE, SPECIALTY RETAIL, AND MEDICAL OFFICES.
OUR TOP STORY THIS HOUR IS THE MAYOR’S OFFICE IS INSTALLING 96 GALLON TRASH CARTS TO PEOPLE’S HOMES
OUR SARAL KHARE JOINS US LIVE TO TELL US THE IMPACT THIS WILL HAVE ON SYRACUSE. SARAL.
THANK YOU GUYS. AFTER MUCH DELIBERATION SYRACUSE IS GOING TO IMPLEMENT THE NEW 96 GALLON TRASH CARTS IN PEOPLE’S HOMES. I TALKED TO THE SYRACUSE’S CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER COREY DRISCOLL DUNHAM ABOUT THE EFFECTS THIS NEW INITIATIVE WILL HAVE ON RESIDENTS AND TRASH PICKUP WORKERS.
THE SYRACUSE COMMON COUNCIL HAS ANNOUNCED FOR PHASE 1 THE 96 GALLON TRASH CANS WILL BE ROLLED OUT TO 20% OF SYRACUSE RESIDENTS.CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER COREY DRISCOLL DUNHAM SAYS ROLLING CARTS OUT TO 20% OF RESIDENT IS SO THE CITY CAN LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES.
IF YOU LOOK AT WHERE THE ROUTES ARE LOCATED, THEY’RE EVENLY DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE CITY SO THAT WAY WE CAN REALLY GET A SENSE TO LEARN THE LESSONS WE NEED TO IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PHASE 2 OF THE ROLLOUT IS SMOOTH.
ONE OF THE CHALLENGES DUNHAM EXPECTS IS TRAINING THE PICKUP WORKERS ON HOW TO USE THE NEW SEMI AUTOMATED TRUCKS TO PICK UP THE TRASH CANS AND THAT THEY’LL WORK WITH THE MANUFACTURERS TO MAKE SURE THINGS GO SMOOTHLY.
YEAH SO WE’RE GOING TO BE WORKING WITH THE MANUFACTURERS WHO PRODUCE THE EQUIPMENT TO MAKE SURE WE’RE COMPLYING BY THE MANUALS AND THE INSTRUCTIONS THEY PROVIDE AND ALSO WPRKING WITH OUR SAFETY TEAM AND OUR OWN HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT.
RESIDENTS HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THIS INITIATIVE. ONE OF THE CONCERNS THEY’VE HAD HIS THE TRASH CARTS WILL BE TOO BIG TO PUSH AROUND. BUT DUNHAM SAYS ONCE THE RESIDENTS USE THE TRASH CARTS THEY’LL SEE IT’S EASY TO USE.
IT’S TOO BIG I’M NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE IT AND I THINK FOR MANY OF THOSE FOLKS FOR THE FIRST WEEK OR TWO ONCE THEY GET USED TO IT THEY DO FIND THAT IT IS A GREATER CONVENIENCE AND IT’S EASY TO NAVIGATE AND FOLKS ARE FINDING PLACES TO STORE THEM.
ANOTHER IMPACT THAT THE NEW GARBAGE CANS ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE IS CLEANER STREETS. DUNHAM SAYS THAT RESIDENTS WILL NOTICE LESS LITTER ON THE STREETS.
WE’RE CONFIDENT TOO THAT THIS WILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON LITTER AND THIS WILL MAKE A CLEANER CITY. I THINK RESIDENTS WILL NOTICE THAT THERE WILL BE LESS RANDOM TRASH BLOWING AROUND.
PHASE 1 OF THE TRASH CANS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ROLLED OUT IN MAY AND JUNE.
ACCORDING TO THE SYRACUSE COMMON COUNCIL THE 96 GALLON TRASH CARTS WILL TAKE UP LESS SPACE THAN THE THREE 32 GALLON TRASH CARTS RESIDENTS CURRENTLY HAVE AND ALSO STORES MORE SPACE.
IF PHASE 1 GOES WELL THE REST OF THE CITY WILL GET THE TRASH CANS IN LATE AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.
REPORTING LIVE, I’M SARAL KHARE FOR MORNINGS ON THE HILL. BACK TO YOU GUYS.
COMING UP ON MORNINGS ON THE HILL WE GIVE YOU THE UPDATE ON YOUR SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY SPORTS TEAMS.
THOSE SPORTS STORIES AND MORE COMING UP RIGHT AFTER THIS.
THE MONTHS OF MARCH AND APRIL ALWAYS RESONATE WITH MARCH MADNESS AND THE ROAD TO THE FINAL FOUR. BUT LAST NIGHT THAT ROAD ENDED AND A CHAMPION WAS CROWNED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE BIG DANCE.
GOOD MORNING I’M CARSON FOWLER WITH YOUR ORANGE SPORTS UPDATE HERE ON MORNINGS ON THE HILL.
YOUR 2023 NCAA TOURNAMENT CHAMPION … UCONN … THE HUSKIES DEFEATED SAN DIEGO STATE 76-59 MONDAY NIGHT TO CLAIM THEIR FIRST TITLE SINCE 2014.
UCONN BECOMES THE FIRST TEAM IN NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY TO WIN SIX GAMES BY 13 POINTS OR MORE … AFTER A DOMINANT RUN EN ROUTE TO UCONN’S FIFTH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP … CENTER ADAMA SANOGO WAS NAMED THE MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER IN THE FINAL FOUR WITH BACK-TO-BACK DOUBLE DOUBLES … A NUMBER OF CONGRATULATIONS TO GO AROUND BUT NONE MORE THAN TO UCONN AND SAN DIEGO STATE FOR SUCH TERRIFIC RUNS IN THIS YEAR’S ADDITION OF MARCH MADNESS. WOW WHAT A TOURNAMENT.
SHIFTING GEARS BACK TO THE 315 … SYRACUSE MEN’S LACROSSE FELL 20-12 TO THE NUMBER THREE RANKED NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH SATURDAY INSIDE THE JMA WIRELESS DOME.
THE ORANGE FOUND THEMSELVES IN A DEEP HOLE EARLY IN THIS ONE… DOWN FIVE GOALS JUST NEARLY 10 MINUTES INTO PLAY … HOWEVER S-U DID MANAGE TO GET BACK INTO THIS GAME … A LITTLE 5-1 RUN OF THEIR OWN PULLS THE ORANGE WITHIN TWO … A SCORE OF 9-7 HEADED INTO THE HALFTIME BREAK … AND FROM THEN ON IT WAS A GAME OF RUNS … NOTRE DAME GOES BACK TO BACK … THEN SYRACUSE SCORES FIVE STRAIGHT … ATTACKMAN COLE KIRST GETS BY HIS DEFENDER AND PUTS IT HOME … GIVES THE ORANGE THEIR FIRST LEAD OF THE DAY 12-11 … BUT THAT DIDN’T LAST LONG … NOTRE DAME GOES ON TO SCORE 9 STRAIGHT UNANSWERED GOALS AND COMES AWAY WITH THE VICTORY … HEAD COACH GARY GAIT SAID WE PLAYED THREE/FOURTHS OF A LACROSSE GAME AND SIMPLY RAN OUT OF JUICE THOSE FINAL 13 MINUTES.
YOU KNOW I THOUGHT WE DID YOU KNOW AGAIN IT CAME UP SHORT ON POSSESSIONS BUT UH I THINK FOR THREE QUARTERS WE YOU KNOW PLAYED ONE OF THE BEST TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY AND WE’RE RIGHT THERE AND THEN OBVIOUSLY WHEN YOU DON’T GET THE BALL BACK IT ENDS THE WAKE UP YOU KNOW IT.
POSSESIONS WAS THE NAME OF THE GAME IN THIS ONE AND SYRACUSE COMES UP JUST SHORT TO NOTRE DAME. SU FALLS TO 6-5 AND 0-3 IN CONFERENCE PLAY. THE ORANGE TRAVEL TO PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY THIS COMING SATURDAY TO TAKE ON THE 15TH-RANKED PRINCETON TIGERS AT NOON.
SYRACUSE WOMEN’S LACROSSE IS STILL UNDEFEATED FOLLOWING A 21-9 VICTORY OVER THE VIRGINIA CAVALIERS JUST A FEW HOURS AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE MEN’S GAME.
MEAGHAN TYRELL, THE FIRST-TEAM ALL AMERICAN, HAD HERSELF A DAY, 9 POINTS, AND 6 GOALS. A BIG DAY FOR EMMA WARD AS WELL 10 POINTS 6 ASSISTS AND 4 GOALS. TWO BIG REASONS WHY THE ORANGE LEFT THE JMA WIRELESS DOME SATURDAY NIGHT WITH THE WIN.
SU TRAVELS TO CLEMSON, SOUTH CAROLINA TO TAKE ON THE CLEMSON TIGERS AND EXTEND ITS UNDEFEATED STREAK TO 14 GAMES. THAT GAME STARTS A 2 PM ON THIS COMING SATURDAY.
THROWING IT OVER TO MARK BUDD. HE HAS OUR STORY FOR BOTH MEN’S AND WOMEN’S LACROSSE SENIOR DAY THIS LAST WEEKEND.
SATURDAY WAS AN ACTION-PACKED DAY FOR SYARCUSE MENS AND WOMENS LACROSSE AS BOTH TEAMS PLAYED AT THE DOME AND HAD THIER SENIOR DAYS. OTTOS ARMY SHOWED UP INA BIG WAY TO SUPPORT BOTH TEAMS.
I THINK WE KIND OF JUST FOCUSED MORE ON IT LIKE JUST BEING ABOUT THE SENIORS YOU KNOW OBVIOUSLY I THINK THAT GAME KIND OF SAT IN THE BACK OF OUR MINDS A BUT UM I THINK WE WERE JUST KIND OF JUST FOCUSING MORE ON OURSELVES AND REALLY CELEBRATING OUR SENIORS.
THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE COUNTRY HAD MANY ACHIEVEMENTS TO CELEBRATE, ESPECIALLY THE SENIORS. AMONG THE SENIORS ARE EMMA TYRELL THE YOUNGERS SISTER OF MEGHAN TYRELL. EMMA HAD HER FINGER PRINTS ALL OVER THE GAME FINISHING WITH 2 GOALS AND 1 ASSIST. MEGHAN COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE PROUD OF HER SISTER.
YEAH I MEAN YOU KNOW IT’S EASY TO CELEBRATE HER AND YOU KNOW FROM YOU KNOW THE ADVERSITY SHE KIND OF FACED LAST YEAR TO COME BACK AND YOU KNOW BE PERFORMING AS WELL AS SHE IS IT’S JUST SOMETHING REALLY SPECIAL I THINK THAT WHOLE SENIOR CLASS IS REALLY JUST SOMETHING SPECIAL THEY BRING ENERGY COMMUNICATION TO THE TEAM EVERY SINGLE DAY SO I’M CELEBRATING THEM IT’S SO FUN AND JUST SO EASY FOR US.
NOT ONLY WAS THE IT SENIOR DAY FOR THE WOMEN’S LACROSSE TEAM BUT ALSO THE MEN’S TEAM. AMONG THE PLAYERS BEING HONORED WAS OUR VERY OWN COLE KIRST.
THIS YEAR HAS BEEN SO SPECIAL I CAN’T THANK THE COACHES AND MY TEAMMATES ENOUGH FOR ALLOWING ME TO BE A PART OF THIS FAMILY FOR THIS ONE YEAR AND I’M JUST EXCITED TO CONTINUE THE SEASON AND HOPEFULLY GET A WIN NEXT WEEK.
KIRST FINSHED THE GAME IN IMPRESSIVE FASHION SCORING TWO GOALS AND DISHING OUT TWO ASSITS. AFTER THE GAME KIRST THANKED HIS FRIENDS FAMILY FRIEDNS AND CLASSMATES FOR A SPECIAL SEASON.
I CAN’T THANK THEM ENOUGH CAN’T THANK MY MOM FOR MAKING THE TRIP TO THE GAME I CAN’T THANK MY FRIENDS FROM HIGH SCHOOL WHO ARE ABLE TO WATCH MY ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS ON NOTRE DAME GRIFFIN WESTLAND TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THAT SUPPORT FROM THEM AND TO HAVE THE SYRACUSE FANS AND TO HAVE CLASSMATES WHO SUPPORT ME EVERY SINGLE DAY NOT ONLY IN THE CLASSROOM BUT OUT ON THE FIELD IT’S AN INCREDIBLE ENVIRONMENT AND I’M JUST EXTREMELY THANKFUL.
THE MENS TEAM WILL PLAY THE RAMINDER OF THE GAMES ON THE ROAD WHILE THE WOMENS TEAM HAS ONE REMAINING HOME GAME ON APRIL 20TH AGINST BOSTON COLLEGE. REPORTING LIVE FROM THE DOME IM MARK BUDD. BACK TO YOU GUYS IN THE STUDIO.
