Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News) – Superintendent of the Syracuse City School District, Anthony Davis, wants the community to join the series of Community Conversation events that are scheduled weekly, or that can be scheduled at your own need.
Last year, there was a series of these events and Davis has continued them this summer. The purpose is to hear parents’ questions, concerns, and comments about the upcoming school year.
“It’s really about listening and having conversations and trying to clarify a lot of the things that are misconceptions or just give deeper understanding of some of the things that are happening, some of the decisions that I made,” he said.
Particularly, last night’s one on one Q&A’s, gave explanations for the school districts earlier start times and the purpose for the changed scheduling. Davis wants parents to think of the whole community.
“I think especially in these conversations, what I’m trying to get people to understand is this can’t be ‘doesn’t work for me’ because I can’t make decisions based on what works for individuals,” he said.
Superintendent Davis will be continuing these events into the school year and encourages more parents and community members to join. The next meeting is Aug. 17 at Wilson Park at noon.
