SYRACUSE, NY (Oct. 3, 2023) The National Veterans Resource Center at Syracuse University commemorated the 75th anniversary of the desegregation of the military. Signed by President Truman on July 26 1948, Executive Order 9981 banned discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, and national origin for people in military service. There was a panel discussion about the impact that the executive order had. The event was intended to further the conversation of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
