SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — The Marketplace on James in Syracuse is home to all things art and vintage. June is not only the start of a new month but the beginning of many events for Pride month. The Pride flag waves brightly in front of the Marketplace on James as people enter the shop.
On June 1, the Marketplace on James hosted a prepare-for-Pride event in the store. The shop has a table display of Pride items ranging from earrings, necklaces, coffee cups and more.
Store employee Logan Anhorn says that the Marketplace on James has always been rainbow-based since opening in September 2021.
“I think it blends the people inside the vendors in here and the whole city together. And that flag also is just a welcome sign to every single person,” Anhorn said.
The vintage shop is a hate-free zone and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community daily.
During Pride week on June 11, the shop will donate 10 percent of their sales to CNY Pride. CNY Pride is a nonprofit organization that puts together multiple events throughout the month of June. The most notable event is the CNY Pride festival and parade that will take place on June 10.
All are welcome to stop by the marketplace on James to celebrate the month and spread kindness.
