AMALIA: WITH THE TEMPERAUTES ON THE RISE THIS WEEK, I COULD REALLY GO FOR A COLD TREAT.

MADISON:YETI FROZEN YOGURT AND CAFE HAS NUMEROUS FROYO FLAVORS BUT IT DOESN’T STOP THERE. NCC NEWS TOOK A STOP IN.

THOMAS: “You can’t just have an ice cream place in upstate New York and make it.”

MADISON: YETI FROZEN YOGURT AND CAFE LOCATED ON WESTCOTT STREET GIVES CUSTOMERS THE OPTION TO GRAB A QUICK BITE OR ENJOY A SWEET TREAT.

FREQUENT CUSTOMER ALEX WILLIAMS SAYS THE SANDWICHES AREN’T THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS HIM COMING BACK.

ALEX: “It’s really home. It’s kind of inviting. And, they have great sandwiches.”“I try to go to more small businesses because it seems like they care a little bit more and have better quality stuff.”

MADISON: OWNER OF YETI THOMAS ASCIOTI HAS BEEN IN THE BUSINESS SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2019.

WHEN HE FIRST BOUGHT THE BUSINESS, IT CONSISTED OF JUST FROZEN YOGURT, BUT HE WANTED TO MAKE IT HIS OWN.

ASCIOTI WANTED THE BUSINESS TO SURVIVE YEAR ROUND. HE WANTED TO ADD ITEMS TO THE MENU THAT WOULD DRAW CUSTOMERS TO THE STORE.

THOMAS: “Nobody would come and say, oh, let’s build a place that has frozen yogurt and soup, and who would do that? Right. But that was already here. So if we put something else with it and other, you know, bounce out the weather, bounce out cravings.”

MADISON: WORKER TYLER FISH HAS BEEN IN THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS FOR 10 YEARS BUT HE SAYS NOTHING COMPARES TO A FAMILY BUSINESS IN A SMALL TOWN.

TYLER: “That’s like, one of the reasons I love the Westcott area is because it’s like, this is a community.”

MADISON: FOR YETI IT’S THEIR FOOD THAT DRAWS PEOPLE IN AND THEIR FAMILY BUSINESS THAT KEEPS THEM COMING BACK.

YETI FROZEN YOGURT AND CAFE IS ONE OF THE FEW RESTUARANTS ON WESTCOTT STREET THAT HAS FOOD AND DESSERT.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS)- Yeti Frozen Yogurt and Cafe located in Syracuse is different than most restaurants on Westcott Street. Yeti gives customers the option to grab a quick bite or enjoy a sweet treat.

Alex Williams,  a frequent customer, said the sandwiches aren’t the only thing that keeps him coming back.

“It’s really home,” said Williams.” “It’s kind of inviting. And, they have great sandwiches’. I try to go to more small businesses because it seems like they care a little bit more and have better quality stuff.”

Thomas Ascioti, owner of Yeti, has been in the business since November 2019. When he first bought the business, it consisted of just frozen yogurt, but he wanted to make it his own.

Ascioti wanted the business to survive year round. He wanted to add items to the menu that would draw customers to the store.

““Nobody would come and say, oh, let’s build a place that has frozen yogurt and soup, and who would do that? Right,” said Ascioti. “But that was already here. So if we put something else with it and other, you know, balance out the weather, balance out cravings.”

Yeti offers numerous different salads, soups, sandwiches, smoothies, and a variety of frozen yogurt flavors.

Tyler Fish, a Yeti employee, has been in the restaurant business for 10 years but he said nothing compares to a family business in a neighborhood.

“That’s like, one of the reasons I love the Westcott area is because it’s like, this is a community,” said Fish.

For the community, it’s Yeti’s food that draws people in and that it’s a family business that keeps them coming back.
