Angry Smokehouse offers BBQ in CNY a whole new look Angry Smokehouse offers BBQ in CNY a whole new look

The restaurant opened in Baldwinsville last week and has already drawn thousands

Central New York isn’t exactly known for any big barbeque item or restaurant. So when Angry Smokehouse opened up in Baldwinsville the line to get in went around the block.

Jeff Rogers, who owns the Smokehouse, also owns Angry Garlic just down the road.

“I have two loves in life; garlic and barbeque,” said Rogers.

Rogers had already pursued the first of his loves, and in order to pursue his second one he said he had to take a bit of a journey.

“I visited 32 different barbeque joints in five different states,” said Rogers.

Rogers said the road trip allowed him to study with pit masters who had been cooking for decades, the majority of their lives.

“They took their time with me. When they heard what I was doing in New York they were excited, they were elated that I wanted to bring real authentic midwestern, southern barbeque to New York State. They literally showed me every single thing that there is to know, they held back nothing.”  said Rogers.

Since their opening last week Angry Smokehouse has had almost an unprecedented amount of customers come in.

“This staff is working so immensely hard right now and it’s not because I didn’t have enough staff to open up with, it’s because I didn’t have enough staff to open up with the amount of volume we’re doing. I anticipated doing a few hundred, maybe 400 covers a day and we’re double that.” said Rogers.

Rogers said the support of everyone in the process of opening has been one of the best parts for him, and even with the large number of people, he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“The community itself has all come together to support me, including other restaurants, you know a lot of the other restaurant owners have already come by. They hang out, they wish me congratulations. We hang out, we have some brisket together, maybe a late night cocktail, and that’s what makes Bville so special, we all work together to make it a success.” said Rogers

THERE ARE TWO THINGS IN LIFE THAT JEFF ROGERS LOVES… GARLIC AND BARBEQUE…

“Coming out…corners…”

ROGERS ALREADY OWNS ANGRY GARLIC IN BVILLE, SO HE SAID IT WAS TIME TO PURSUE HIS SECOND PASSION… PART OF THAT INCLUDED VISITING 32 BBQ JOINTS IN FIVE DIFFERENT STATES TO LEARN FROM THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS…

“They took their time with me, when they heard what I was doing in New York, they were excited, they were elated that I wanted to bring real authentic midwestern, southern BBQ to NYS and they literally showed me every single thing that there is to know, they held back nothing.”

ANGRY SMOKEHOUSE OPENED JUST OVER A WEEK AGO AND ALREADY IT’S ONE OF HOTTEST SPOTS IN TOWN, AND IT’S NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR SPICES AND SAUCES…

“We open at 11:30, the line will start forming any minute now, and then it will start wrapping around the building”

“This staff is working so immensely hard right now and it’s not because I didn’t have enough staff to open up with, it’s because I didn’t have enough staff to open up with the amount of volume we’re doing… I anticipated doing a few hundred, maybe 400 covers a day and we’re double that…”

“Jimbo loves to be on the news, he’s very photogenic… *singing*…”

BUT THE KITCHEN ISN’T THE ONLY PLACE FULL OF PEOPLE ROGERS IS GLAD TO HAVE…

“The community itself has all come together to support me, including other restaurants, you know a lot of the other restaurant owners have already come by. They hang out, they wish me congratulations. We hang out, we have some brisket together, maybe a late night cocktail and that’s what makes Bville so special, we all work together to make it a success
