Today’s stories include the end of early voting in New York State with Election Day 2019 this Tuesday, a study about multiple sclerosis in Syracuse, and the dismissal of defensive coordinator Brian Ward by the Syracuse University football program.

TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY, BUT YESTERDAY MARKED THE END OF THE FIRST EARLY VOTING PERIOD IN NEW YORK STATE HISTORY. OVER 85-HUNDRED PEOPLE IN ONONDAGA COUNTY CAST THEIR VOTE EARLY. BOARD OF ELECTIONS COMMISSIONER DUSTIN CZARNY SAID THIS SYSTEM HELPED DRIVE TURNOUT, WHICH MAY GREATLY AFFECT LOCAL ELECTIONS.

Czarny: “Your vote is more important in local elections than in any other election because these are the people that will determine what your daily life is like.”

BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD HAS PUBLISHED A STUDY WHICH FOUND THAT SYRACUSE HAS THE HIGHEST RATE OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS IN THE COUNTRY. THE REASON WHY IS STILL UNCLEAR, BUT WITH 45 DIAGNOSES PER TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE IN THE AREA, SENATOR CHUCK SCHUMER WANTS TO INVESTIGATE.

Schumer: “And so today I’m launching a push for there to be complete cooperation and focus between the Center for Disease Control and SUNY Upstate’s great neurological research team.”

IN SPORTS, SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL HAS FIRED DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR BRIAN WARD AFTER BACK-TO-BACK BLOWOUT LOSSES. DEFENSIVE ENDS COACH STEVE STANARD WILL TAKE OVER INTERIM DUTIES FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.
