SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — An A-pork-alypse is taking over Syracuse this weekend. The annual bacon festival is returning to downtown after it was cancelled last year.
This year, the hog hoopla includes bacon-flavored lemonade and ice cream is even longer than festivals in the past. Organizers extended it an extra day to accommodate the amount of people they’ve had in past years.
Event coordinator Brittney Christie said she’s excited to get people back at the festival
“The best part for me, is being able to see all the people that come because of something we did.”
The festival will feature bacon-centric dishes from local restaurants such as Limp Lizard Lounge, Happy Eating Grounds and Peppino’s Pizzeria. Attendees can win a year’s supply of bacon in a costume contest and live music will keep the party going.
The Clinton Square celebration kicks off Friday at 4 p.m. and continues Saturday at 12 p.m.
