Bonuses To Be Granted to Lyft’s Most Dedicated Drivers Lyft plans to grant drivers up to $10K in cash bonuses

Lyft drivers who have completed 10,000-20,000 rides will be rewarded.

Frankie: Some of Lyft’s most dedicated drivers are expecting a cash bonus that they can use to buy company stock. Shantelle finds exactly who qualifies for this cash reward

Shantelle: Bonuses will be rewarded to drivers who complete between 10 and 20-thousand rides. But for some, like James Willoughby of Baldwinsville, New York, 10-thousand rides is way out of arms reach.

James: I’m focused on 60 rides where I get a 350-dollar bonus

Shantelle: A bonus could mean good news for the drivers who do qualify. Lyft drivers receive few benefits and are required to spend their own money on gas and car repair. Unfortunately for James, he’s stuck without it.

James: I’ve got an old car with a lot of miles on it, and I’ve had it for 12 years. It doesn’t owe me anything.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCCNews)— For James Willoughby of Baldwinsville his workday on Monday, March 4 began bright and early—at 4:30 a.m. he picked up his first Lyft client for the day in Radisson and drove him to Syracuse Hancock International Airport. His flexible work schedule is one of several perks Willoughby enjoys as a Lyft driver. Another perk Lyft drivers can soon expect is an up to $10,000 cash bonus.

Lyft will award bonuses to drivers who have completed between 10,000 and 20,000 rides before February 25.

“I think it’s awesome,” says Lyft user Osato Onagihnor. “I feel like if you’re a good driver and you’ve done that many rides, you’re experienced in driving and treating your customers well.”

Osato found the bonuses to be a great incentive to motivate Lyft drivers to work harder and a reward for good services.

“A lot of drivers I’ve talked to tell me they don’t get paid as much as they should.”

Critics, however, find that the Lyft is neglecting a majority of the company’s drivers with the high number of rides needed for a bonus. This rings true for Willoughby, who is barely reaching the 40th ride mark.

“I’m focused on [getting] 60 rides,” said Willoughby. “I’ll get a $350 bonus.”

Lyft says that drivers who qualify will receive their rewards around March 19 with the option to purchase company stocks.
