SYRACUSE, N.Y (NCC NEWS)- Brew at the Zoo returned for its 25th year. The annual event organized by the Friends of the Zoo is held at Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. This year the August 5 event looked different than years past. Food Trucks, live music, and custom masks were just some of the features of the 2021 iteration. Executive Director of the Friends of the Zoo, Carrie Large said the event is always a hit.

“It’s a very known and successful event. To create education and have a different experience with the animals and its needed funds for us to do our job,” Large said.

COVID-19 also had an impact on the event as well. The zoo decided to limit the number of people to make sure party-goers could socially distance and they also gave out free masks with red pandas on them. Regardless, the community always looks forward to this event every year — it sold out this time.

Limp Lizard, The Baked Potato Express and Nikki’s Cupcake Creations were just some of the food trucks that were featured. A big attraction to the event was the silent auction. Guitars signed by rock legends including Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and others are just some of the items up to buy. Local artists contributed paintings and sculptures, gift cards and even a piece of the Carrier Dome were available for bidding.

The event took place Friday, August 5th at 8 pm and the auction ended on Friday as well.
