Central New York Barber Shop Relocates After 44 Years Central New York Barber Shop Relocates After 44 Years

Martinez: Friday marked the end of an era, as ShoppingTown Barber Shop closed its doors, but it was only temporary. One of the owners, Dino DiNatale, explains that after more than four decades at ShoppingTown Mall it was time to move.

DiNatale: ShoppingTown gave us no choice. The mall went down hill. They didn’t care to put anything back into it. And when our lease ran out in January, we decided to move out.

Martinez: The doors at the new location opened at eight o’clock this morning, and the shop’s following had no trouble finding it.

DiNatale: I got here at 7:15 and we had three guys already waiting. By the time we actually got going, the shop was full.

Martinez: DiNatale and his crew of barbers love the new place. So far, he’s heard the same from his customers.

DiNatale: They loved to see the new place. They loved it. They really do. They didn’t want to leave. People were like ‘I’m coming back tomorrow,’ you know? Just to see it again, so it was fun.

Martinez: The shop moved only a mile and a half away to Manlius’ new Fremont Plaza. It’s a new location that’s twice the size with twice as many T-V’s; however, the people are the same.

MANLIUS, N.Y. (NCC News) —  After 44 years in ShoppingTown Mall, it’s time for new beginnings for one local barber shop.

ShoppingTown Barber Shop moved a mile and a half away to Manlius’ new Fremont Plaza over the weekend. The grand re-opening was Tuesday.

Dino DiNatale, one of the owners, was greeted by eager customers waiting to be the first ones seated in the morning.

“I got here at 7:15 and we had three guys already waiting,” DiNatale said. “By the time we actually got going [at 8 o’clock], the shop was full.”

Although no longer in ShoppingTown Mall, the shop is keeping the same name.

The barber shop has been in the family since 1963. Its latest chapter in Manlius is just beginning.
