SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Residents of CNY woke up to a surpise Tuesday morning, snow in April. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for parts of Central New York Monday Night, with some areas expecting up to a foot of snow.
Syracuse Univeristy sophomore Liam Griffin is less than thrilled by the return of snow, especially at this time of year.
“It’s horrible you know its April 19th you know we’ve already had a few a handful of 70 degree days.” Griffin said.
Griffin also mentioned how the weather has put a wrench in his plans of what clothes to wear during this time of year.
“I mean like at this point in the year I’m wearing shorts because I’m just so use to wearing them that I brought most of my pants home already at this point just like cmon enough is enough its April 19th for crying out loud!” Griffin said.
This weather is not unusual for this part of the state. In April, Central New York averages at least of couple of inches during the month. And sometimes snow can fall in May as well.
Panos Vadekays, a snowplower and laborer, says its business as usual for him.
“Its typical Central New York weather,” Vadekays said. “we usually get snow like April into May, like at least a couple of storms.”
The snow did not last long on the ground in parts of CNY. Residents however, had to wait a little bit longer for Spring.
