Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC NEWS)- The New York State Fair is coming to Syracuse in late August. This year it will have some new changes. One of the new changes is 15 new vendors.
Alice Maggiore, Director of Public Information, talks about how the vendors last year had to decide between two fairs.
“The vendors had to make a choice, rather they went to The Erie County Fair or The State Fair and because we overlapped with the dates that was held” says Maggiore.
This year there is not that same dilemma so more vendors can come.
In addition, there will be a variety of cuisines this year like Brazilian and Greek food. It was important for the fair to have variety.
“But it’s also a showcase of the great people who make up New York State so in a way it’s nice that the food on display can contribute to the cultures on display,” says Maggiore.
Maggiore also talks about a new exhibit that is coming this year.
“We have a skilled trades and manufacturing exhibit that’s going to be set up in the science and industry building,” says Maggiore.
There will be job opportunities at the trades and manufacturing exhibit.
“So if you’re looking for maybe your first career or switched careers or maybe pick up a second job there are going to be several types of engineering organizations,” says Maggiore.
The fair will also have some changes in the future.
“There’s going to be a greenhouse and there’s going to be a sheep and wool barn and these facilities will be state of the art” says Maggiore.
The New York State Fair will run from August 24 to September 5.
