CLAY, N.Y. (NCC News) – The town of Clay hosted a Christmas tree lighting party on Dec. 4.
The annual event included pictures with Santa, a train ride, and the lighting of the town hall’s Christmas tree.
“To be able to come together like this with Santa and all the traditional things, and we throw some additional things in every year,” said Chrissy Clancy, the event coordinator. “Last year we had a parade, this year we had a train, so we try to make it different, but always have it.”
Clancy said she gets joy out of organizing an event where families and kids have fun and feel the holiday spirit.
“Watching the kids be so happy to see Santa and see that they still believe in the magic,” she said.
A.J. Carpella came out to the event with his son Anthony. Carpella said while the joy of being a child for Christmas is something most people will never forget, it’s important to get reminded of it as you grow older.
“The happiness when we see our kid’s kind of excited, when we see they see the lights and stuff, you know, and you get old and you kind of forget how happy it was when you were a kid,” said Carpella. “It brings you back to that youthful feeling.”
