City of Syracuse Kicks Off Seventh Annual Adopt-A-Block City of Syracuse Kicks Off Seventh Annual Adopt-A-Block

Adopt-A-Block partners with local organizations to keep Syracuse clean.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh met with city residents at the Seals Community Center this morning to kick off the seventh annual Adopt-A-Block program.

This program partners with the Onondaga County Save the Rain Connect the Drops program to make city clean up a city-wide effort. Organizations, schools and businesses volunteer to keep two blocks clean and commit to a monthly cleanup.

Volunteers such as Julius Lawrence want to make a difference in the community.

“Our youth is not just the ones to come, our youth is the future now,” said Lawrence. “What we do for them now will determine who and what they will be. And the question is what are we leaving for them?”

Groups must commit to cleaning up a block for at least two years and can register their blocks on the city website.
