American High, a production company based in Liverpool, has recently sparked attention among the community. Hollywood actor Vince Vaughn is playing the lead in their latest film, “The Binge” and has been spotted across the Central New York region.
The film’s director’s assistant, Caroline Cianci, says that the excitement that Vaughn brings to the area is interesting to follow.
“They’re super involved and they’re so excited to see this guy they’ve watched for years in their hometown” says Cianci.
But bringing Vaughn to Central New York doesn’t just benefit the community. American High hopes to gain more attention for their films through his popularity. According to Cianci, Vaughn has the potential to rake in a larger audience for “The Binge”.
“I think our films have been, like, geared towards a younger crowd. But now with Vince, since he’s such a success in my parent’s generation, we’re gonna get two crowds for this film.”
“The Binge” is American High’s sixth film, but it isn’t the first time they’ve obtained a huge star for one of their pictures. Syracuse was starstruck last summer when Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, came to town to shoot “Big Time Adolescence”.
Cianci, who is also a recent Syracuse University graduate, has also noted the affects American High’s latest project has on the school. The company hires students from SU to help with their films and gain experience on a real movie set.
