SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)– The CNY Fertility Center in Syracuse gives hope to many people that have difficulties with becoming pregnant and starting a family.
At the age of 22, Ashley Rose and her husband realized that they were having trouble getting pregnant. This urged them to see her gynecologist and the doctor told them that they shouldn’t panic and just wait a little while longer to have children.
Rose said, “so we had to wait a year to go to CNY Fertility, said my OBGYN because they say that when you’re young you’re supposed to wait a year and if you’re still not pregnant then there must be something wrong.”
After that year passed, CNY Fertility told Rose that she had endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome two hormonal disorders that made it hard to conceive.
They were then informed that there were more options for having children. Rose decided that the option to go with was intrauterine insemination (IUI) that involves placing sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilization.
Rose said, “it was the first pregnancy test that I had ever taken that was positive.”
During her five-month checkup, she found out that her baby would stop breathing at any second. This caused her to experience a stillbirth at 26 weeks.
Rose said, “he wasn’t developed like he should’ve been, but he was my baby.”
After losing her first pregnancy, Rose and her husband knew that there was still more options at CNY Fertility and the next best option was to do in vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF helps sperm fertilize an egg, and help the fertilized egg implant in the uterus.
Rose said, “some people would judge after losing Oliver that it’s too soon to start again but they were like absolutely not … like, let’s go … let’s get you a baby alive”.
With the help of the CNY Fertility Center, the couple was able to experience a successful full-term pregnancy with IVF and their dreams finally came true in August of 2019 when their daughter, Mariella Rose, was born.
