College tuition prices are on the rise.

DANA: YOUNG ADULTS SEEM TO BE UNAWARE OF THE FINANCIAL IMPACT COLLEGE HAS ON THEIR PARENTS.

LA VECCHIA: That is more of an afterthought. Luckily for me it’s an afterthought, I’ve always been told when it comes to college my parents would rather starve then me not go.

DANA: ISABELLA KLUG FROM OHIO SAYS THE COST OF TUITION IS MORE OF A CONCERN FOR HER PARENTS BUT IT’S STILL IN THE BACK OF HER MIND.
HER FATHER SAYS HE HAS BEEN SAVING FOR THIS DAY FOR A LONG TIME.

KLUG: Her older sister just graduated from undergrad and you’re looking at the money we spent we could have bought her a house.

By Dana Casullo, Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News)  Some young adults seem to be unaware of the financial impact college has on their parents.

The average cost of tuition, fees, room, and board for 2018-2019 is slightly more than $21,000 for one year as an in-state student at a state school and about $48,000 for a private college, according to the College Board.

Giovanni La Vecchia, from lower New York, says he loves the architecture program at Syracuse University and the school spirit. Although the cost of tuition is not a concern for him.

“That is more of an afterthought,” La Vecchia says. “Luckily for me it’s an afterthought. I’ve always been told when it comes to college my parents would rather starve then me not go.”

Isabella Klug, from Ohio, says she is looking forward to the environment and school atmosphere at Syracuse University. Klug says she is not worried about the cost of tuition.
