Cuomo Reacts to Trump’s Speech Governor Cuomo

Albany, N.Y. (NCC News) — After President Trump called on governors to take action against violence during the protest around the country on Monday, Gov. Cuomo said the president’s position is a “political spin.”

“The president doesn’t want to distinguish between the looters and the protesters. The president doesn’t want to speak about the killing of Mr. Floyd. The president just wants to talk about just looting,” said Cuomo.

President Trump said on Monday if cities or states doesn’t act in order to stop the violence presented during the protests nationwide, he will deploy the United States military.

Although, Governor Cuomo says bringing the National Guard over the New York City mayor means that they have to take other legal actions.

“You kick out the mayor. You have to displace a mayor in the middle of this situation, and file charges, and have a hearing. Governmentally, it is absurd,” said Cuomo.

However, Cuomo said NYPD has the capacity to protect the city without the National Guard.
