Onondaga County, N.Y. — For the first time in 28 years, Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick could face a primary challenger.
Republican Gary Lavine is considering a run against the long time DA.
Lavine is a prominent lawyer who has served as counsel to state legislators.
While he’s just beginning to consider a run, Lavine has plenty of time to decide. The period for petitioning to get on the ballot begins February 26th.
Fitzpatrick has a history of launching investigations into political opponents, including Stephanie Miner and Ken Bush.
This would be Lavine’s first attempt at a run for office.
