Ryan Bell, Reporter: Pre-historic creatures are returning to the New York State Fair for a second consecutive year. Fair goers this summer will experience over 60 life sized dinosaur models ranging from three to 35-feet tall. New York State Fair director Julie LaFave says the event is coming back largely due to popular demand.

Julie LaFave, New York State Fair Director: “Last year we did have the dinosaurs in there, So it is a repeat activation, but we got rave reviews from families, children, grandparents like that they loved it.”

Ryan Bell, Reporter: The dinosaur exhibit is free with fair admission. LaFave says it’s important to bring low cost entertainment to the greater Syracuse community.

Julie LaFave, New York State Fair Director: “We understand that people may struggle to either get here, pay to get in, or pay for the fair food because if you have a large family, it can really add up so it’s important that we get them the most bang for their buck.”

Ryan Bell, Reporter: Fair admission is $8 for adults and free for children under 12.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Dinosaurs are returning to the New York State Fair.

Starting August 21st, fairgoers will experience over 60 life-size dinosaur models ranging from three to 35 feet tall. The experience is free with admission and will be on display for all 13 days of the fair.

The program includes a storytime session where crewmembers will read dino-themed children’s books and have a hands-on “fossil-dig” for prehistoric bones. There will also be multiple opportunities for photo-ops, including one inside a dinosaur egg.

If you didn’t get to see the dinosaurs last year, you won’t want to miss them again, New York State Fair Director Julie LaFave said.

“The technology behind the movements and sounds that bring these dinosaurs to life is incredible and leaves you feeling as if you’ve been transported back in time,” LaFave said.

She went on to speak about the importance of bringing affordable entertainment to the greater Syracuse community.

“You pay to get in, we don’t want to obligate you to then spend more money once you get in,” LaFave said.

Admission to the 2024 New York State Fair is $8 for adults and free for children under 12.
