SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)–With the arrival of spring comes the perfect opportunity to explore greenhouses, as the season brings a possible profusion of blooming flowers. The greenhouse at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry is the place that has a wide range of relatively common through quite rare plants.
According to the introduction of the greenhouse at SUNY ESF, some plants stay exposure to cold temperatures during the short days of midwinter, but it’s time for them to bloom and grow in spring.
Julie Capito, a student majoring Conservation Biogeography at SUNY ESF, works on the same floor of the greenhouse.
“I like to go to the tropic greenhouse, which is down a little bit further, especially this time here, orange flowers are bloom so it’s nice to go here and smell flowers,” she said. “I would say there will definitely a lot more flowers you can look at another spring here, so that’s always nice.”
Meanwhile, a student who takes greenhouse classes this semester at SUNY ESF introduced that the greenhouse is always a controlled environment, but it will have more sunshine in spring.
“During the winter, it’s slow. But during the spring, more people will come,” said Adam Kantor.
