Downtown Syracuse Crowne Plaza Hotel Catches on Fire Downtown Syracuse Crowne Plaza Hotel Catches Fire

SYRACUSE N.Y. (NCC News) — The Downtown Syracuse Crowne Plaza Hotel caught on fire Wednesday evening.

A large group of emergency responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after 9 p.m. Firefighters were quickly able to make it up to the 20th floor to distinguish the fire.

Syracuse Fire Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. The 20th floor sustained water, smoke, and fire damage, fire personnel said.

When the first team of firefighters arrived at the scene, they noticed water leaking from the elevator shafts and a faint smell of smoke from the hotel’s lobby. They were quickly able to determine the fire came from one of the top floors of the building.

Guests on the 19th floor of the hotel were also affected. Smoke had begun to crept into it from the 20th by the time crews arrived to the scene.

No injuries were reported at the scene.
