Downtown Syracuse Restaurants Offering Discounted Meals for Dining Week Downtown Syracuse Restaurants Offering Discounted Meals for Dining Week

By Mason Horodyski  SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)- For the 15th year in a row, Dining Week has returned to downtown Syracuse.

From February 18th to March 3rd, 47 restaurants will offer Dining Week specials. Three-course lunches will be $10 or less, while dinners are $30 or less. The two-week long event can help restaurants bring in newer customers to try out different menu items. Sage Hart, manager of The York restaurant on West Fayette Street, has been participating in the event since they opened four years ago.

“[Dining Week] gives a lot of people the opportunity to taste a lot of things on our normal menu that they otherwise wouldn’t get to taste,” said Hart. “It’s just a really cool opportunity to explore new restaurants downtown.”

However, while some restaurants may see a noticeable boom in business, others remain unaffected by the discounts. Nicole Addley, an employee at Funk N’ Waffles, said that the next two weeks will most likely be business as usual.

“I think that us in particular don’t have a hard time getting new customers. We have people come in every single day that say its their first time here,” she said.

While Funk N’ Waffles may not get the most new customers thanks to Dining Week, Addley still understands the impact the event can have on downtown Syracuse.

“I just think it’s important for the community, for downtown to just have events like this,” said Addley. “The more people that are active and participating, the more people that come down. I think it’s just a good thing for downtown in general.”
