For Speach Candy Shoppe in Syracuse- Easter business this year is a little sweeter than last.

“Not as great as we wanna be, but it’s better than last year” said Micheal Speach, employee and family member of the family owned Speach Candy Shoppe. 

Last year70, like many businesses, Speach Candy saw a drop in sales. Speach saw a nearly 70% drop in sales last Easter. This years boost of in-store shopping may be thanks to the vaccine.

“So the people that we’re seeing now are people that are getting more comfortable with getting out. So we are seeing more elderly people coming out especially those who have gotten their vaccination they’re feeling more comfortable. They’re feeling more able to say, ‘hey I wanna go and browse’, people can”

Shoppers can order their Easter treats online, or for those who feel safe to shop in person, the tradition can continue.

“We’re so glad they’re open, we were like, ‘please be open we need our Easter candy!’ ” said customer Pamela Chappell

Pamela Chappell and her father came out to get Easter treats they’re sure the kids will love.

“We got some solid rabbits for sure, some bunnies that always go a long way and some speciality items. Star Wars… all solid so the kids will love them” said Chappell.
