SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)– The 38th annual Gingerbread Gallery opened up at the Erie Canal Museum in downtown Syracuse and has a variety of gingerbread creations on display until Jan. 7. The participants include amateur and professional bakers, along with a senior and youth category.
According to the museum interpretations coordinator Steph Adams, the exhibit received forty houses this year and a good mix of houses from various categories. The room is designed to look like an 1800s Christmas village. Adams spoke about how the exhibition first started.
“The museum had about seven hundred visitors that one day. Now over time, it has expanded to this six-week exhibition and we will see about six thousand visitors.”
These bakers compete for multiple prizes including people’s choice, kid’s choice and judged winners with these results being announced in mid-December. There are various houses on display including one with a Syracuse University theme.
You can attend the exhibit and cast your vote for the winner of people’s choice awards. Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors (65+), $4 for children 3-17, and free for children 2 and under.
