Anchor: A new soft-serve shop just opened its doors this weekend and is already drawing in big crowds. N-C-Cs Shariden Truly has more on the story behind the cafe’s grand opening.
Reporter, Shariden Truly: A new ice cream shop, Fayette’s Soft Serve Cafe just opened this weekend in Syracuse.
Team Lead Victoria Veade, says the grand opening had a large turnout.
Victoria Veade: “It was packed. Lots of people shoulder to shoulder.”
Reporter, Truly: The shop was opened by former employees of the recently closed Sweet Frog.
Veade: “A few of the workers Alexis and Ashley, who originally worked at the Sweet Frog decided to reinvest in the store, to own it and they have a few different local owners and families that are here
and that own the place now, and that’s how it came to be.”

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) – A new ice cream shop, Fayette’s Soft Serve Cafe opened this weekend in Syracuse. The shop posted a soft launch on its Instagram promoting the grand opening, which led to a successful turnout.
Team lead Victoria Veade said the cafe was packed but the workers managed to get through the opening with little to no hiccups. “It was packed. Lots of people shoulder to shoulder,” said Veade.
The new cafe used to be known as Sweet Frog, but former employees Ashley and Alexis decided to revitalize the space.
“A few of the workers Alexis and Ashley, who originally worked at the Sweet Frog decided to reinvest in the store, to own it and they have a few different local owners and families that are here and that own the place now, and that’s how it came to be,” said Veade.
Workers emphasized the pride they take in being able to serve the community in such a fun way. Veade shared her excitement about being able to work with kids and seeing families come together in the new space.
The shop will continue to expand on its treats throughout the summer.
