Food Truck Frenzy at OCC Food Truck Frenzy at OCC

SYRACUSE N.Y.-Today at Onondaga Community College, the Food Truck Frenzy began the first of many of their events. The event is set up by the OCC Foundation. The event is a fundraiser that helps provide funding for student scholarships and programs. This helps the OCC Foundation award a million dollars every year to their students.

“We did it every month last year and portion of the proceeds go back to the school” Josh Reynolds said, owner of The Angry Pig.

The Angry Pig is one of the four trucks parked in the OCC lot today. The others were Bob Barkers, Ma and Pa’s Kettle Corn, and Elbita’s Cocina. Many of trucks plan on coming back to the event throughout the summer.

“We are scheduled to be here in the future so as long as OCC continues the Food Truck Frenzy we will definitely be here” Josie Burgos of Elbita’s Cocina said.

On Wednesday, President Biden announced the Restaurant Revitalization Fund which will help many restaurants like the food trucks here recover from the tough pandemic. Some trucks have already looked into Biden’s plan.

“We did look into it, so hopefully we will be able to benefit from that grant” Burgos said.

The frenzy is located in the parking lot next to the SRC Arena and Lazer Stadium. The event will run every other Thursday night from May to July. It runs from 4 to 8 o’clock.
