#GivingTuesday is a worldwide day of giving. Driven by social media and the organizations, it’s celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Giving Tuesday is a day where people across the world give donations to different charities and organizations after a long weekend of shopping.
On Point for College is one of the nonprofits participating in Giving Tuesday in Syracuse. On Point helps low-income students to continue their education after high school. Beginning with assisting in applications to financial aid and also supporting the students through graduation and beyond.
According to the On Point website majority of On Point for College students are first-generation college students and low-income students whose families believe college is financially impossible.
On Point helps students get the resources to survive and succeed after the program. The profits from the Giving Tuesday event will help continue to sponsor the organization and their students.
On Point accepts donations for giving Tuesday through their website. Andrea Marshall, Director of Development at On Point said the organization is always looking for people to help out in any way they can. “We always look for opportunities to engage our alumni, our donors and our friends to give back to On Point.”
On Point for College invests 88 percent of the funds raised for the organization go back into the students in the program.
